What scents are NOT Natural? even though it says they are?
While it is always pleasant to use a blend that is aesthetically fragrant, this is not the primary goal of holistic aromatherapy. Many essential oils and Hydrosols that are highly therapeutic, indispensable tools of the trade actually have rather curious scents.
A perfect example of this is That Everlasting, Helichrysum italicum, also known as Immortelle. The curative and restorative properties of this essential oil are so phenomenal that in recent years, eager aromatherapist have quickly bought out entire distillations. But to be truthful? This precious oil smells distinctly awful. Luckily, only a few drops are ever needed in blends, and the smell can be masked with other oils of therapeutic value. Many times we need to put aside the aesthetic aspects of essential oils and Hydrosols and instead sitter the valuable physiological effects of their use.
