Herbal remedies provide a safer alternative to treating arthritis than relying solely on prescription and over-the-counter drugs. White willow , cayenne and other herbs contain salicylates, compounds like those in aspirin. They are among the many other herbal medicines that fight inflammation and relieve pain; you will find the details on how to use them in the following pages. Remember to always seek guidance if you are taking prescription drugs, to check for potential interactions when mixing herbs and drugs.
There are two main forms of arthritis, rheumatoid (an immune system disorder) and osteo (wear and tear). Other inflammatory and rheumatic conditions that share many of the same symptoms are gout, fibromyalgia and lupus. No matter what type of arthritis you may have, they all have pain, fatigue and inflammation in common. Arthritis is one of the most debilitatingand destructive chronic disorders. Since it affects so many of us, the shearnumber of different arthritis remedies on the market today can make choosingthe right one for you overwhelming. There are many new prescription drugs onthe market, and drugstore shelves are filled with a variety of OTC pain relieversand supplements.
So what makes arthritis herbal remedies different? Instead of the silver bullet approach of designer drugs, which have a few main ingredients engineered to do one thingand one thing only, medicinal plants have hundreds of compounds, that work asa synergistic whole giving them a whole range of properties and actions. Manyof these plants have a recorded history of use that stretches back in time tothe first physicians of Egypt and Greece. Anyone living with arthritis is all to familiar with the benefits and dangers COX-2 type pain medications. You may not realize Hippocrates was prescribing herbal COX-2 type pain relievers thousands of years ago. Anti-inflammatory herbs are some of the most important herbal allies in the fight against arthritis. Inflammation is both a root cause and a symptom in a wide variety of health conditions. Herbal medicine also lends itself tomany different forms of therapeutic treatments for arthritis such as baths , aromatherapyoil blends , herbal oils ,herbalteas , and extracts thatgo far beyond just taking a pill.
A diet rich in nutritious foods and herbs provides much of the nutrients we need for health, however, nutritional supplements can be beneficial additions to management of osteoarthritis and other rheumatic conditions. Vitamin D and Vitamin B, as well as trace minerals; boron, selenium, zinc, and copper are not always present sufficient levels in commercially grown produce, and it is important to insure your levels are not too low. Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate work to help stop the progression of arthritis in approximately 30 percent of people, and are certainly worth trying. Supplements that are rich in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids like fish oils and flax have proven anti-inflammatory benefits, and should be first on your list of supplements to take. One you may not have heard of is avocado oil combined with soy, or avocado soybean unsaponifiables. (ASU) supplements have shown benefits for osteoarthritis of the knee, with patients experiencing less pain and stiffness in clinical trials. Two clinical studies found that the combination significantly improved functional disability and pain. There is a delayed onset of action, which could frustrate those looking for quick relief. You may be able to reap some of the same benefits by including more avocado and soy in your diet, as well you should, but the supplements do provide a concentrated source.

The Pages Always Listen – My Life of RSD/CRPS by admin · January 21, 2014
Spirit has been nudging me to write a book about my life with RSD/CRPS. I’m not really sure where to start so I guess I’ll start from the beginning. This is going to take quite a few blog posts, so bare with me. I will be blogging frequently about my life not for sympathy… but for inspiration for others to NEVER GIVE UP!
So Let’s Take a Walk……
First, allow me to tell you what RSD/CRPS is and a little bit about it.
The name is Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (RSD/CRPS). It is a disorder of the nervous system that can affect the body in whole. Not only does it affect the physical body, but it affects the emotional, and the spiritual in not only the survivor, but their family and friends.
RSD is a debilitating disorder that causes the brain to send false pain signals to the nervous system which causes chronic pain. Just to name a few symptoms are:
skin lesions, burning and stabbing pain, headaches, immobilization and curling of limbs, swallowing issues, sleep issues, chronic pain at the site of the initial injury and chronic pain in other parts of the body away from the initial injury along with so much more.
RSD also causes problems in the functions of organs, including bladder, gallbladder, stomach, digestion, blood flow, blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature control.
These are not all of the symptoms that RSD causes, but just to give you an idea of how debilitating the pain is with RSD, go to the McGill pain scale and see how high the pain is rated.
CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT RSD/CRPS
I’m not going to go on and on about the facts and the research and the medications about RSD is, what I really want to do is tell you a real life story about where RSD/CRPS took me in my life. Although I could not walk for six months with many of the above symptoms, had skin lesions and ulcerations on my arms, face, and legs including internally in my nose, ears and eyelids, rectally and vaginally…
And I never was able to teach my daughter to ride a bike or go see my son at his cheerleading competitions because the loud music caused me so much pain,
I still would not change anything that has happened to me in my past for the fact that it made me who I am now and brought me to where I am today.
The story I tell you in this blog, not only how I feel now, but excerpts of my personal journals as I went through and experienced this debilitating disorder.
I have been journaling since 2003, which is within six months of my diagnosis of Full Body RSD in October of 2002.
I bring you my life story not for sympathy, but for inspiration. If I can help one person, just one person than I have done what God has brought me here to do.
I wish you all blessed and pain-free days. Made it Angels surround you all with healing lights from above.
